Former Grand Slam doubles champion Bob Hewitt has pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault of minors on Monday at a court in Johannesburg.

Hewitt faces these charges after three of his former students accused him of abusing them while they were minors.

Australian-born Hewitt, in a statement denied raping his former students, adding that no matter what happens in the case, he would never recover from those allegations, Sport24 reported.

In view of the charges, the 15-time grand slam doubles winner was indefinitely suspended from the International Tennis Hall of Fame in November 2012.
