At least 64 people have been killed by suspected Boko Haram militants in a raid on the north-eastern Borno state of Nigeria, as per the witness' account.
According to survivors, the insurgents burned down the village of Njaba after they attacked men and boys of the area.
The raid on Njaba reportedly happened on Tuesday but was not immediately known due to its remoteness.
Explaining the chaotic incident, Fatima Abaka, who resides in the village, said that she ran into the bush, adding that since then she had never seen her husband and three children, and when she came back to her village in the afternoon, dead bodies were scattered everywhere, the BBC reported.
Aminatu Mommodu, another witness, said that the bodies of victims, including many men with their throats slit, were in the mosque.
In an attempt to establish an Islamic state, Boko Haram has killed thousands and displaced more than a million.
In addition to controlling large areas of Borno state, Boko Haram has even executed cross-border raids into Chad, Cameroon and Niger.
