'Booed' Rosberg hopes F1 fans will forgive him for his last two GP antics

After being booed at the last two Grand Prix races, Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is hoping that Formula One fans will forgive him for his antics.

The German was given an unfriendly reception on the podium after colliding with teammate Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian Grand Prix and following Sunday's Italian race.

Rosberg said that it is obviously not nice, but what can he say, and added that he hopes that with time the fans forgive and forget, as that would be great, The BBC reported.

Rosberg said that he has apologised and he can't really do anything more than that.

Briton Hamilton had to retire in Belgium after the incident with title rival Rosberg, who went on to finish second. Rosberg, who was later disciplined by Mercedes for the collision, dismissed booing when he was on the podium at Spa by suggesting it was the British people.

But the German was again jeered when collecting his trophy for second at Monza, where Hamilton won the race, reducing his deficit to Rosberg to 22 points.

Hamilton said that the booing made him feel awkward, while Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff believes it is unfair.

Wolff said that first of all, there shouldn't be any booing on the podium, adding that that is for the top three guys who have had a mega-race and, whoever it is, there shouldn't be booing. He said that they are a sport and sport should unite.
