Former England football star Paul Gascoigne is reportedly rebuilding his relationship with his family as he continues to fight his addiction to alcohol.
The former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur hit rock bottom last year after he started drinking again and friends persuaded him to go into rehabilitation in Arizona, and his recent turnaround is said to be down to regular gym workouts, a high-protein diet and staying off the booze.
According to the Daily Star, close family friend Lizzie Cundy said that Gascoigne is back on good terms with former wife Sheryl and step-daughter Bianca, adding that he has been spending time with loved ones during a nostalgic trip to Newcastle.
Cundy further said that family is the top priority for Gascoigne as he attempts to turn his life around and the report mentioned that the former footballer proved his determination to get on better terms with his family with snaps posted on Instagram, which showed him smilingly posing with his nieces and nephews.
Cundy, who has known Gascoigne for years, also said that he is looking the best that she has seen in a long time, adding that she hopes the former player stayed fit and well as he is the 'most lovable person'.
