The announcement over the much anticipated bout between undisputed US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and Filipino boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao to be held in Las Vegas on May 2 sent boxing fans around the globe in a state of joy and the American has been opened as an almost 1-3 favourite in the earliest betting odds.
Since the announcement, Las Vegas has been reportedly abuzz over what promises to be the biggest fight since the days of Muhammad Ali and Frazier.
As the earliest betting odds started, Mayweather opened as an almost 1-3 favorite in them, Sport24 reported.
Former boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard, who won world titles in five weight divisions, tweeted that he couldn't wait to see the fight.
Even former English footballer Gary Lineker tweeted about the bout, stating that now that is a fight.
A Magazine statedt that 'Mayweather-Pacquiao is here, kiss the record book goodbye'. Even film actress and fight fan Rosie Perez tweeted that finally the bout is happening, adding 'God Bless America, two times' to her tweet.
Mayweather would carry a 47-0 record into the bout, while Pacquiao stands at 57-5-2.
Mayweather, after announcing the fight in social media, claimed that what the world has been waiting for has arrived.
