Legendary Brazilian footballer Pele has said that he believes that Jose Mourinho's return to Chelsea will benefit the London club, although he warned that there is no guarantee that the Portuguese can deliver success.
Mourinho made his long-awaited return to Stamford Bridge on Monday, after cutting short a three-year tenure at Real Madrid despite having another three years left on his contract, CNN reports.
The report further said that Pele's comments may be undermined as although Mourinho won the 2012 league title with the Spanish giants, and the Copa del Rey the year before, but failed in the club's primary objective- winning a 10th European crown, for which it is widely speculated that Real let him go.
However, Pele insisted that Mourinho's return is a good omen for Chelsea, saying that he is talented and honest, and added that he knows him personally.
However, Pele admitted that football is full of surprises, saying that despite being the best, Mourinho also needed to have a bit of luck.
Explaining why his relationship with his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo broke down towards the end of his Madrid reign, Mourinho said that when he criticized Ronaldo in order to improve his game, Ronaldo did not take it well, adding that the player probably thought that he does not need any further training from the coach.
