Bruce Springsteen has revealed the secret behind his songwriting.

Springsteen gave a glimpse into his writing process when he sat down with ABC's Ted Koppel in 2002 for an interview around the release that year of his album 'The Rising.'

The 64-year-old rock singer spoke about the simple spiral notebook that he keeps nearby, on which he works out the lyrics that will become his songs, ABC News reported.

Springsteen said that it's just the book where he does his songwriting and it's a general mess.
