BSE closes 109.29 points down, Nifty down 30.65 points

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed 109.29 points down to stand at 26,283.09, while the National Stock Exchange (Nifty) closed 30.65 points down to stand at 7,971.30.

SREI Infra Structure Finance Ltd., NIIT Technologies Ltd., Muthoot Finance Ltd. and Punj Lloyd Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A with increases of 8.24, 7.42, 7.11 and 6.20 percent respectively.

The top losers of Group A were Sunrise Asian Limited, Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd., Mahindra and Mahindra Finance Services Ltd. and Kailash Auto Finance Ltd registering decreases of 9.97, 6.89, 4.97 and 4.71 percent respectively at the close.

The auto sector was down 138.23 points at 17,865.27. The banking sector was down 66.27 points at 19,637.15, while the realty sector was down 17.07 points at 1,260.66. The Indian currency is up 0.35 percent at Rs 66.37 per dollar.

The other top BSE gainers for the day were Dr. Reddy's Labs, Lupin, GAIL and Vedanta. BHEL, Hindalco, Bharti Airtel, ONGC and ICICI Bank were the main losers of the day.
