McLaren driver Jenson Button has reportedly given an early boost to Lewis Hamilton as he admits that Mercedes is the team to watch out this season.
Hamilton and his teammate Nico Rosberg finished first and second in the time sheets during the practice session in Melbourne ahead of the new Grand Prix season.
According to the Mirror, Button said that he feels everyone is about a second off Mercedes adding that the Brackley operation's cars are very quick.
Button also said that it is a little bit surprising than everyone else, including Williams F1 adding that Mercedes' speed could also help them to conserve fuel in the upcoming Grand Prix's opening race on Sunday.
Scuderia Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso finished in third, half a second behind Mercedes, with defending champion Sebastian Vettel finishing in at fourth place followed by Button at fifth in the practice session, the report added.
