The Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) in Allahabad is gearing up to host the finale of Smart India Hackathon 2017 on April 1 and 2.
The event, promoted by Ministry of Human Resource and Development and the All India Council for Technical Education, will allow thousands of engineering students from across the country to participate in the 36-hour non-stop digital product development competition.
It aims to harnesses creativity and expertise of students, build funnels for "Startup India, Standup India" campaign and give opportunities to citizens to come up with innovative solutions to India's daunting problems.
The Airports Authority of India under the Ministry of Civil Aviation has also given digital problems to the participants.
Keshav Sharma, Principal, Civil Aviation Training College, Allahabad, said, "Under the Civil Aviation Training College, which is the nodal centre of Ministry of Civil Aviation, 60 teams from various parts of India such as from Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Punjab, Northeast etc are participating. They are already briefed about the digital problems of the ministry of civil aviation and they are shortlisted. They will work and discuss on the problems to find the solutions under the supervision of their mentors which has been divided into 8 teams for 36 hours. After the evaluation of the solutions after 36 hours, winners will be declared and will be conferred with prizes and also certificates for participation will also be provided."
The civil aviation sector in India is poised to grow rapidly in the next few years.
With growing number of passengers and air traffic, the Airports Authority of India has plans for rapid expansion and development of infrastructure.
The Smart India Hackathon 2017 will help young minds to provide solutions to the problems faced by Airports Authority of India and other government organisations.
