The government has decided to give the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) control and command of the agency's legal wing, which till was reporting to the Ministry of Law.
According to an All India Report, the Directorate of Prosecution will report to the CBI Director. The latter will also have the final say on promotions, postings and annual confidential reports.
The Director of Prosecution was the chief functionary of the Prosecution Wing of the CBI and was vested with powers of direction and control over prosecuting officers.
Henceforth, these powers will be with the CBI Director.
