CBI initiates action against three for allegedly cheating IDBI

A case has been registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against three persons for allegedly cheating the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) of Rs. 180

crores.

According to reports, one of the accused, Shibaji Panja, is supposedly a close aide of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The CBI initiated the action after it received a complaint from the bank . The complaint mentioned three directors of a Kolkata-based private firm and alleged that the accused persons had availed credit facilities from IDBI Bank, Kolkata, by furnishing false statements and cheated the bank.

The CBI is said to have raided several places, including the residential premises of the accused and recovered incriminating documents pertaining to the case.
