Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that ceasefire violations have nothing to do with elections or August 15.
"Ceasefire violations keep on happening but it has nothing to do with elections or August 15. The leaders of both the countries need to solve this issue together," said Abdullah.
"The focus should rather be on the people in Kashmir as such violations create a lot of difficulties for the people living near the border," he added.
Earlier today, former Indian army official, Lieutenant General (Retd.) P.N Hoon said that India needs to have an offensive defence as the number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan has increased.
Yesterday, Pakistani troops reportedly violated the ceasefire in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistani army carried out unprovoked firing using small arms and automatic weapons.
Indian troops gave befitting reply using weapons of similar caliber.
There have been a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in the past two months.
