The Central Zonal Council will hold its 20th meeting in Lucknow on January 19, where it shall discuss issues related to Centre-state and inter-state relations.
The council, which comprises Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand will discuss agendas finalised by Standing Committee of the Central Zonal Council in October 2014.
Earlier this week, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had taken to twitter to share his views on the meeting.
"I am looking forward to the next Zonal Council meeting at Lucknow on January 19 which will be attended by the states of UP,UK,MP and CG," he posted.
"Zonal Council Meetings also help in promoting the idea of cooperative federalism in the country," he added.
Among the issues to be discussed are those relating to increasing density and upgradation of existing roads, child welfare programmes, control of left wing extremism, improvement of the airport infrastructure, the release of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) funds and the modernization of police forces.
This will be the first meeting of the council since 2010.
