The Congress Party on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his NDA Government must seriously take up the issue of repeated ceasefire violations with Pakistan and its army.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said Friday's ceasefire violation in which three people were killed and eight others were injured in the R S Pura sector, is extremely sad and dangerous.
"Civilians getting killed in border on border's skirmishes is something that cannot be tolerated. I think this is something the Government of India must take extremely seriously, both with the Pakistan Government and their army. Our army must give a befitting reply," Dikshit told ANI here.
"I think the problem with the Prime Minister is that as chief minister of Gujarat, he made very jingoistic statements only to shore up his own image, and they don't actually translate into foreign policy, or into work that our border policy can do. So, a failed Prime Minister, a failed foreign secretary and a completely failed NSA in terms of Pakistan policy have led to this absolutely dangerous situation with Pakistan," he added.
Dikshit said "I must also emphasize the completely disastrous policy that India is following vis-a vis Pakistan in the last one- and- a- half years, especially since Prime Minister Modi came to power, which has caused all this."
"We have an NSA who does not understand foreign relations, or Pakistan, or what needs to be done. We have a foreign ministry that is clueless, and we have a Prime Minister, who completely does not understand the realities of the situation," he said.
