Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that the Centre would work with the state governments to raise the compensation limit for farmers affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorms.
Jaitley, who interacted with the farmers of Timeli village in Rajasthan today, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply concerned about the loss to the farmers.
Jaitley also noted that there was major damage to crops in Bundi district and assured the farmers of all possible help from the Centre.
The Finance Minister said that Prime Minister Modi had directed the central ministers to visit the most affected areas so that assistance and compensation can be facilitated to the farmers.
Jaitley said the Centre in coordination with the state government would provide all possible help to the farmers.
The Finance Minister also took an aerial survey to assess the damage to the crops.
