The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday accused Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) chairman P.C. Chacko of shielding the accused in the 2G spectrum scam, and added, that he acted more as a Congress agent, than as the chairman of the JPC.
"P.C. Chacko acted less as a chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and more as an agent of the Congress. He ensured that all guilty people indulged in the scam are shielded," said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.
"The Congress tried to hide the 2G spectrum scam of Rs.1.76 lakh crore and tried to pass the report of the JPC. They indulge in corruption with impunity and shamelessly. Then, they shield the corrupt brazenly and disgracefully. After this, they abuse the parliamentary provisions for this purpose," he added.
"We are sad that our leaders were not allowed to lodge their protests in the Lok Sabha. After this, the chair in the Rajya Sabha refused to give substance to our concerns as to whether the chairman of the JPC can edit the dissent note," he said on Yashwant Sinha and Murli Manohar being denied permission by Speaker Meira Kumar to protest against the JPC report.
