Former Australian skipper Ian Chappell has said that his country's selectors have short-changed spinner Nathan Lyon by keeping him out of the ODI squad for the upcoming series against India.
Lyon, who had repeatedly indicated his desire to play in limited-overs, was excluded from 13-man squad for the first three ODIs of the five-match series against India.
The 28-year-old spinner, who has appeared in only eight ODI's so far, had displayed solid form in the two domestic T20 matches for his side, the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
Describing Lyon as the 'best spinner' in Australia, Chappell admitted that the former bowled brilliantly in the domestic T20s,News.com.au reported.
Besides Lyon, Shane Watson and Usman Khawaja were the other key omissions for the upcoming ODI series against India.
Australia, which claimed a 2-0 win in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies, will now take on India in a five-match ODI series, starting from January 12 in Perth.
