Charlotte Gainsbourg has hoped aboard Roland Emmerich's sequel 'Independence Day 2.'
The 20th Century Fox project stars Liam Hemsworth along with Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman who'll reprise their roles, and the film is expected to begin production in May, for a June 2016 release, Deadline.com reported.
Smith had starred in the 1996 original that grossed 811 million dollars worldwide, but won't be returning for the sequel.
The joining of the Paris-born actor-singer, who's fresh off her appearce in Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac movies, was made official by Emmerich on Twitter who wrote, "Please join me in welcoming Charlotte Gainsbourg to the cast #IndependenceDaySequel @cgainsbourg @20thcenturyfox.
