The Election Commission has ordered the removal of Secretary and Commissioner of Public Relations of the Chhattisgarh government, Rajesh Toppo, in connection with a sting video being circulated in the media.
The EC has also directed the Chhattisgarh government to conduct a departmental inquiry and issue a notice to Toppo immediately regarding his role in the entire incident.
The Congress party had reportedly lodged a complaint with the commission and submitted a copy of the sting video clip and transcripts that allegedly showed Toppo in an 'anti-Congress' conversation with a journalist.
The first phase of voting in Chhattisgarh was held on November 12, while the second phase is due on November 20.
The counting of votes will be held on December 11.
