At the UN General Assembly debate, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reportedly called for peaceful solutions to the nuclear issues in Iran and on the Korean Peninsula, through dialogue.
Wang said that China has been working to promote a peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue.
The foreign minister further said that China has played a constructive role in seeking an appropriate solution to the Iranian nuclear issue in order to uphold the international non-proliferation regime and peace and stability in the Middle East.
He therefore, urged all relevant parties to scale up diplomatic efforts and work for substantive progress in the dialogue at an early date, Xinhua reports.
Wang said that China's consistent position on resolving the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, is to have a negotiated solution through dialogue and that the six-party talks are an effective platform to promote the denuclearization of the peninsula.
