'Cinderella' star Lily James has dismissed the criticism regarding "thin waist" by parents, saying that she couldn't understand why people were focusing on something so "irrelevant."

During the UK premiere of the film, the 25-year-old 'Downton Abbey' actress, who's been said to have gone a liquid diet to fit into the tight-fitting corset for the role, said that a 9-year-old kid had told her "It's amazing how you promised your mum to be kind and good and remembered it," and it was that kind of message which should be remembered, the BBC reported.

People have also been accusing filmmakers of digitally resizing the waist to make it look smaller, but several stars of the film denied the rumour at the premiere.

James said that she had felt breathtaking when she put on the blue princess ball gown costume by Sandy Powell for the first time, and it made her felt empowered as if she was in a suit of armour.

The Oscar winning designer also defended the costume saying that that the only CGI involved in the costumes was with the shoe.

Critics have also said that Cinderella portrayed a unhealthy female role model who needed Prince Charming to get by, however, 'Game of Thrones' actor Richard Madden, who plays prince, rubbished the gossip saying that she was strong and brave and the prince in the film needed to be worthy of her affection.

'Cinderella,' which also stars Helena Bonham Carter plays the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine, Stellan Skarsgard as the grand duke and Derek Jacobi as the king, is out in Indian theaters now.
