New art house distributor Cinelicious Pics has signed a contract to bring the Indian film 'Gangs of Wasseypur' to US.
The 5 and a 1/2 hour violent crime drama, which is based on real-life wars between two mafia families, was co-written, produced as well as directed by Anurag Kashyap, who is being referred to as the Scorsese/Tarantino of Bollywood, the Deadline.com reported.
The film, which would be released in winter 2014 in New York and Los Angeles in two parts, would be presented stateside by film producer Adi Shankar, who marked the monumental importance of the film for Indians, and called it the 'The Godfather' of Indian cinema.
Kashyap said that the film he was thrilled that the film was still finding new audiences that too in the US, and was look to know how the foreign audience would take it.
