Clarke says not going to let criticism stand in way of achieving 'top team in world' dream

Australian captain Michael Clarke has insisted that he is not going to let criticism stand in his way of his dream of getting his team back to the top position in the world.

Clarke has had a typically tumultuous lead-in to an Ashes series including David Warner's bar room brawling, Mickey Arthur getting sacked as coach, claims that he had described Shane Watson as a 'cancerous element' and finally the recent unflattering portrayal by former captain Ricky Ponting.

However, Telegraph.com.au reports that Clarke said that despite the criticism on his ability to be a 'team player', his performance with the bat and many others, he is not bothered, as he has copped criticism his whole career, both on and off the field.

Insisting that he can still see his dream of bringing his team to the pinnacle of success, Clarke vowed not to let any of the bashing stand in the way of his goal, although he admitted that after scoring mountains of runs, showing tactical proficiency as captain and his quiet life off the field, he should be basking in praise, not defending himself.

However, Clarke said that although he is aware that he will continue to receive criticism, he still wants to win every game he plays, including the upcoming series, and will not be ground down by the disappointment of the recent series and the growing disillusionment about Australia's performances.

Clarke also said that his love of the game is stronger than ever as he gets older, adding that he is as excited as he has been at the start of any game in his career.
