Manchester United midfielder Tim Cleverly, who has joined Aston Villa on a season's loan, has admitted that he is pleased to escape the negativity he experienced from fans at the Old Trafford outfit.
Cleverly was a target of abuse during the struggles under David Moyes last season and has been heavily criticised on Twitter.
Cleverly said that he is happy to get away from some of the negativity, adding that if any footballer gets a bit of stick off their own fans they are going to be hurt. He said that football is a game of opinions and one cannot please everyone, The Guardian reported.
The midfielder said that he probably wasn't the only player to get it last year and for as long as United aren't winning trophies, players will get criticised.
Cleverly said that he has still got a league title and 13 England caps, adding that one does not turn into a bad player just because somebody says so on Twitter.
