The co-host of CNBC show 'Squawk Box' made racist comments and impersonated an Indian accent during the show on Friday.

While discussing about foreign exchange rates, Joe Kernen ignored his co-hosts' pleas to stop as he mimicked an Indian accent and made an inappropriate joke.

According to the New York Daily News, the host on the show were discussing about India's central bank when Kernen made the racist remarks.

When one of the hosts, Becky Quick, took put two Indian currency notes from her purse, which were left over from a trip abroad, they started talking about how Gandhi's picture featured on one of the notes.

As Quick and the others talked about the notes, Kernen was heard repeating 'Gandhi' in an Indian accent in the background.

His co-hosts then looked alarmed and Kernen asked him to stop, which he chose to ignore and then blurted out 'Are they good at 7-11'.

He was quickly condemned by his co-hosts, which led Keren to apologize.
