Bangladesh recorded their highest successful run-chase in ODI and second highest run-chase ever by a World Cup side after they defeated a spirited Scotland side by six wickets with 11 balls remaining at Nelson on Thursday.
Put in to bat first, Scotland recovered from a shaky start to eventually set an imposing target of 318, thanks to a magnificent 156 runs by Kyle Coetzer.
At the start of their innings, Opener Calum MacLeod (11) and Hamish Gardiner (19) fell cheaply off Mashrafe Mortaza and Taskin Ahmed deliveries.
Subsequently, Coetzer found an able ally in Matt Machan (35) as the duo went on to built a crucial 78-run partnership for the third wicket before putting a 148-run robust stand for the fourth wicket with skipper Preston Mommsen (39).
Coetzer, who was named as the Man-of-the-Match, smacked 17 boundaries and four sixes in his impressive ton.
Taskin Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh as he captured three wickets for 43 runs.
Chasing a challenging target of 318, Bangladesh were at their resilient best as opener Tamim Iqbal (95) and Mahmudullah (62) steadily built up a 139-run stand for the second wicket after losing Soumya Sarkar at the start of their innings.
Wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim smacked a brisk 60 runs off just 42 balls, which included six fours and two sixes, before falling prey to Alasdair Evans delivery.
Following the dismissal of Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (52) and Sabbir Rahman (42) accelerated their innings as they remained unbeaten to chase down the target with 11 balls remaining.
With the win, Bangladesh are fourth in Pool A table with three more games remaining.
