A group of budding chefs recently celebrated World Bread Day by baking and preparing a huge vegetarian burger bun that attracted food lovers from across the city.
It took almost 16 hours for 47 catering students and five chefs to make the 1.5 feet tall and three feet wide burger, which was handed over to an orphanage after display.
The giant burger was prepared with 35 kilograms of refined flour (maida), two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram salt and yeast each, 12 litres of vegetable oil and 21 litres of water. Moreover, no preservatives were used in baking the huge burger that weighed 65 kilograms.
In addition to this, a variety of bread from seven countries were also displayed at the venue. The initiative was taken up by a private hotel management institute.
The event also saw students baking breads from countries like France, Italy and America.
