Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for nominating former IPS officer Kiran Bedi as their chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Congress leader P C Chacko on Tuesday said the party has nominated an apolitical person who does not subscribe to even one percent of its ideologies.

"The fight is not with Arvind Kejriwal at all; the fight is between the BJP and Congress. A person who is apolitical and against all political parties, and does not even subscribe one percent to the ideologies of that party has been nominated as their chief ministerial candidate," said Chacko.

Furthermore, he said that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal proved to be a miserable failure for running away within 49 days of becoming the chief minister.

"Arvind Kejriwal or anybody should understand that no party has given unilateral support to its enemies but only we did. People expect that there will be a stable government and we gave our support to him. But the man ran way in 49 days and that was a miserable failure," he said.

Both Kejriwal and Bedi were part of the anti-corruption movement led by activist Anna Hazare before the AAP chief decided to form his own political party.

Bedi was named as the BJP's chief ministerial candidate on Monday night and will be fielded from Krishna Nagar seat in Delhi while Kejriwal will contest Delhi from the New Delhi constituency.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
