Downplaying the reports of former chief Minister Nabam Tuki's resignation the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said in the wake of Pema Khandu's election as the CLP chief the Congress can't gloss over what happens subsequently and forget the cause of rebellion which took place within the party.
BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said, "With regard to democracy, the test and strength of democracy is the floor test and that the ultimate test, there can't be anything more than that. Where ever the numbers are the government will be formed with those numbers and that has to be respected."
"The larger question of Arunachal is Congress cannot divert attention, why were their leaders disaffected and why did they move out. What was their disaffection with? So the Congress has to address these issues themselves. They can't gloss over what happens subsequently and forget the cause of why did this movement take place," he added.
Earlier today, Pema Khandu, son of former Chief Minister Dorgee Khandu, was elected as the chief of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
Former chief minister Nabam Tuki has resigned owing to internal disputes in the party over his leadership.
