Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for making tall claims of development, and said that the saffron outfit does very good marketing, but never fulfills its promises.
"The Congress does not believe in making tall promises. But whatever promises were made have been fulfilled over the years. We fought your battle and passed the land acquisition bill. Be it MNREGA, RTI or Food Security Act, Congress party fulfills its promises," he said while addressing a rally here in the poll-bound state.
"On one side is a party that keeps its promises, while on the other is the BJP that does very good marketing...uses cameras (to show crowds)...You cannot change it with the cameras. Truth will remain truth and falsehood will remain falsehood,' he added.
He further attacked the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government of ignoring the people of the state.
"UNDP report says one lakh infants die in Madhya Pradesh a year due to hunger. This government has forgotten you and your families. The Congress party will form its next government here. This will be the government of dalits, adivasis, and poor. Whatever we do will be for the welfare of the poor, adivasis and dalits," he said.
Gandhi also said that the Congress Party plans to open a horticulture centre in Mandsaur.
Madhya Pradesh is going to polls on November 25, and results would be announced on December 8, along with those in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and New Delhi.
