Congress leader Manish Tewari said here on Monday that the split between Indian National Congress (INC) and the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir can be attributed to the electoral dynamics presently prevailing in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Well as things stand today both the National Conference and Indian national Congress continue to run a government in Jammu and Kashmir. Elections have their own dynamics and those dynamics depend upon as to how the rank and file really response to a particular electoral situation. So therefore keeping in mind the dynamics of that electoral situation the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Indian National Congress may have come to certain conclusions and these are inevitable facts of political life which everybody has to take in their stride," said Tewari.

Yesterday, the Congress Party decided to contest Jammu and Kashmir state polls alone, announced leader Ambika Soni, thus ending its six-year old alliance with National Conference (NC).

NC leader Omar Abdullah heads a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir with the Congress party. The polls are due later this year.

Soni said party would put up candidates in all 87 seats.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said party would seek people's mandate on development and secularism.
