Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday accused the Congress of playing politics in the name of villages and the poor, stating that the party which has ruled the nation for a long time after independence is least bothered about their development.
Das expressed his disappointment over the move of the Chief Minister of Congress-ruled states to skip the meeting of the Niti Aayog, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official 7, Race Course Road (RCR) residence here.
"It is extremely unfortunate that the Congress Party is doing politics in the name of villages, farmers and poor. Even today the honourable Prime Minister appealed to the various political parties that the Centre would initiate action on their suggestions would be welcomed by the Centre," Das said.
"The Congress CMs should have been present in today's meeting. If they really think about the development of poor and villages, then they should have given their suggestions," He added.
Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the second meeting of the governing council of Niti Aayog earlier, in his opening remarks said the Centre and states must move together to end poverty.
He said the political deadlock over land acquisition is seriously impacting rural development, including the creation of schools, hospitals, roads and irrigation projects.
Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked the Chief Ministers for their participation and said that their suggestions would be welcomed.
