The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday lashed out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his unwarranted criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA and said that the grand old party should start getting tolerant in the Parliament towards the democratically elected government.
BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said the nation would not have witnessed all this plight had the Congress Party worked for 67 years in true sense.
"I have been studying the statistics and they show that when the GDP is concerned and the growth is concerned, it is 7.4 percent as compared to 4.25 percent. When you look at inflation, it has again improved. Food prices are under control, retail pricing is under control, wholesale price index is under control," said Lekhi.
"When you look at all this, Make in India, exports outside, in every parameter India has done better in 14 months. Under these circumstances the intolerant behaviour which the Congress Party is showing towards democratically elected government is rather pathetic," she added.
Lekhi further said the nation was fed up with corruption, no policy and zero implementation during the UPA regime as a result of which the Congress was left with just 44 seats in the Parliament.
"I think they should start getting tolerant in the Parliament towards the democratically elected government. We are ready to debate on any subject under the sunk, but they should allow others to speak," she added.
The Congress vice-president earlier today criticised Prime Minister Modi's pet 'Swachh Bharat' and 'Make in India' campaigns while addressing the students at the Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru.
During the question and answer session, Gandhi spoke on a range of subjects with a common idea that the government was failing on all fronts.
