The Congress Party on Saturday welcomed reports of party president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi participating in campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Reacting to reports, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh told ANI, "Congress workers will be happy if Priyanka Gandhi participates in poll campaigning."
Echoing similar sentiments, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said, "It depends on Priyanka Gandhi whether she wants to participate in the elections and whether she will join or not."
"The Congress party is ready and expecting her." he told ANI.
UP Congress president Raj Babbar had on Friday said Priyanka Vadra Gandhi is a dynamic personality, who will actively campaign for the party in run-up to the next year's assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
In his first interview as the president, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Babbar said, "All members of the Gandhi family are on an equal platform and Priyanka Gandhi will campaign during the Uttar Pradesh election. I have appealed to Priyanka also. Priyanka has always worked for the party and there is a remarkable understanding between Rahul and Priyanka.
