Congress Party Supporters protested outside the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday after he called Priyanka Gandhi an alcoholic.

Slogan shouting protesters asked Swamy to undergo medical treatment for posting such a comment against Priyanka Gandhi on Twitter.

"We will protest against their leaders. Subramanian Swamy should go for mental treatment for using such language. If he cannot afford it, the Congress party will pay for it," said Congress party leader Haroon Yusuf.

However, Swamy remained defiant and challenged Priyanka Gandhi to deny it.

"She should quit as people have quit smoking. Priyanka should quit. If drinking is a bad habit she should say that she doesn't drink. Can she deny it?" he added.

However, police prevented the protesters from advancing ahead by placing a series of barricades on the road leading to BJP leader's house.
