The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said there is a considerable respite from the heat wave across the country barring a few areas in Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, and added that it had abated completely in the national capital.
"There has been a considerable respite in the heat wave across the country. Though it is still prevailing in northern parts of Telangana, some areas of Odisha, some parts of western Jharkhand and in some places in Madhya Pradesh. But it has abated from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, it has abated Delhi fully, it has abated in coastal Andhra Pradesh," IMD Director B P Yadav told ANI.
The scorching heat wave has claimed 429 more lives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, taking the total death toll in the two states this season to a massive 1,774.
While 100 deaths were reported in Telangana in the last 24 hours, 329 deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh yesterday.
