Ousted Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said that the people who are conspiring against the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) will be defeated.
According to the Dawn news, Maryam, while talking to journalists during her visit to NA-120 constituency in Lahore, said that those "conspiring against the PML-N will gain nothing except defeat".
"The party believes in politics of serving the people," she said. "By the grace of Allah, we will win the 2018 general election."
Sharif's wife Kulsoom Nawaz had won the crucial NA-120 by-poll in September.
The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified then prime minister Sharif in Panamagate and instructed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file references in the regard.
The NAB presented two witnesses against Sharif, Maryam and son-in-law retired captain Muhammad Safdar in corruption references as the trial formally began on Wednesday.
The court began proceedings despite the Islamabad High Court (IHC) admitted Sharif's petition challenging the accountability court's refusal to club three separate references against him and fixed November 20 as the date for the next hearing.
