Work for the proposed broad gauge railway line from Bairabi to Sairang near Aizawl has started.
According to reports, the broad gauge railway line is slated to be completed by March 2018, at a projected cost of around 2.5 crore rupees.
The construction of 51-km long rail line between Bairabi and Sairang would require construction of 23 tunnels of nine kilometres long with 36 major bridges and 147 minor bridges.
There will be four stations at Hortori, Kawnpui, Mualkhang and Sairang villages.
The broad gauge railway line upto Assam interstate border town of Bairabi is scheduled to be completed by March next year.
