Former Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Narayan Rane said here on Thursday that upon his meeting with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi he informed him of the reason behind his resignation from the Maharshtra Cabinet.

"It's my job to have trust on him. I haven't been given any assurance. I went to give him all the information regarding my complaints. He said that he will be meeting Sonia Gandhi and whatever discussion will take place and whatever decision will be taken, that will be conveyed to me," said Rane.

Earlier today, Rane had visited Rahul Gandhi's residence. The visit was held post his resignation from Maharashtra Cabinet on July 21, which he had submitted to the state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on grounds of being upset with the party for not giving him the top post.

Before the resignation he had stated that he would continue to be a member of the Congress Party.

Rane had joined the Congress after he quit the Shiv Sena in 2005. He had served as Chief Minister for nine months while in Shiv Sena in 1999, when the NDA government was at the helm of affairs in Maharashtra.

In 2005, soon after joining the Congress, he was inducted as a minister in the Vilasrao Deshmukh government.
