Coulthard says 'Prost/Senna-type' feud between Hamilton, Rosberg 'good' for Mercedes

Former British Formula One racer David Coulthard has said that the 'Prost/Senna-type' confrontation scenario between Mercedes aces Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg is good for the team and its partners.

The problem between the duo, which came to a head at the Monaco Grand Prix, is being very openly managed by Mercedes, which is fueling the media's desires to see something blow up between the pair, according to Coulthard.

The BBC reports that Coulthard said the sensible thing for Mercedes bosses Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe is to hold their hands up and say that although both Hamilton and Rosberg are paid to race, respect the team and not crash into one another, however, they can 'go for it' for the rest.

Coulthard further said that a Prost/Senna-type confrontation scenario will do much more for the media value of Mercedes and their partners than just dominating the season and making it boring.

It can only be negative if they lose the world championship as a result of it, but that is not going to happen as either Rosberg or Hamilton is going to be crowned champion at the end of the year, added Coulthard.
