The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday announced plans to launch a nation-wide India campaign against the rise in the prices of essential commodities from October 5.

"The national executive of our party met for two days and decided to continue our campaign against the price rise because the economic condition of the country is worse, and the Modi Government has been failing to control the prices," senior CPI leader D. Raja said.

Speaking to ANI , Raja said, "The government is at the advantage, because a there is a big fall on the prices of crude oil in the International market, but in the domestic markets the prices of all the essential commodities have gone up to may folds."

"We have seen the prices of onion have gone up, it is because of the wrong policies of the government allowing forward trade and online trade and export of the onion when there is big demand inside the country and prices are high," he added.

Raja further said that they have been witnessing drought in many parts of the country particularly in Maharashtra where people don't find a water to drink. So, clubbing all of these issues, the CPI has decided to go for an all India campaign against the price rise.
