South Africa cricket team has been congratulated by Cricket South Africa (CSA) on their Triangular series win in Zimbabwe after the beat Australia by six wickets in the final at Harare on Saturday.

CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said that there is no doubt that their ODI team is improving every day, and added that over the past 10 months they have enjoyed outstanding success with series wins over India and Australia, the two previously highest ranked sides on the ICC ODI rankings table.

Lorgat said that what has been particularly pleasing has been South Africa's growth as a team and the manner in which they have adjusted after losing legends to retirement, adding that the advancements made by the likes of Faf du Plessis and Aaron Phangiso personifies the progress this team has made, Sport24 reported.

The CSA chief said that Dale Steyn's performance in the final against Australia was very special. He added that the leadership team of coach Russell Domingo and captain AB de Villiers are to be congratulated on their excellent growth and performances.

Lorgat further added that Domingo and De Villiers are now within touching distance of being the number one in the ODI format as well. He also said that the path is now set for them to grow in stature as they prepare for more tough away series in New Zealand and Australia in October and November.
