The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) will review preliminary enquiries filed by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore coal blocks allocation scam.

The CVC was asked by the Supreme Court on Friday to pursue the coal blocks an allocation case in which there is a difference of opinion within CBI.

A Special CBI judge on Thursday fixed May 2 as the next date for the hearing of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet filed in connection with the coal blocks allocation scam case against Navabharat Power Pvt. Ltd., and its two directors.

Special CBI Judge Madhu Jain said she would hear the matter on May 2, as the CBI had not filed a complete set of documents.

Media reports said that the CBI has filed some of the documents which were part of the March 10 chargesheet in which the firm and its two directors were accused of conspiring and cheating by purportedly misrepresenting facts to "embellish" its applications to get allotments between 2006 and 2009.

This is the CBI's first chargesheet filed out of the 16 FIRs lodged by it till date in the multi-crore coal scam against various firms and top corporates that include industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and Congress MP Naveen Jindal.

Navabharat Power Pvt Ltd, its two directors - P Trivikrama Prasad and Y Harish Chandra Prasad have been charged under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
