Modi accuses Congress of putting hurdles in retrieving black money

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, on Sunday accused the Congress of blocking process of retrieving black money.

In 2009, a government panel found that illicit funds stashed abroad to range between $500 billion and what is now the size of India's economy of $1.4 trillion.

Modi indirectly alleged that illicit funds belonged to Congress party leaders, while addressing a rally in Nanded.

"People who have deposited black money are putting hurdles. They are in government for the last ten years. It is the demand of India to bring back black money but people in government, in New Delhi, are not ready to bring back the black money," said Modi.

Modi, meanwhile, also promised those involved in Adarsh housing scam in Maharashtra won't be spared, if he was voted to power.

"I take a vow today that new government will not spare those who have cheated family members of the fallen heroes of the Kargil war," Modi also said.

Modi further said BJP would set up special courts to decide criminal cases against politicians within a year to cleanse the electoral system.

"We will set special courts within a year to decide cases of criminals in politics and to punish them," Modi said.
