Election for post of Congress President was postponed for one year in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet on Tuesday.

The election will now be held next year, in effect giving Sonia Gandhi one year's extension.

The CWC also passed three resolutions. Firstly, they have decided on uniform membership for all wings. Secondly, Congress President's term has been reduced to three years. And finally, all organisational elections would be deferred by one year.

The CWC also decided to reserve 50 percent of the party's posts for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and women.

The CWC meet has ended.
