Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has commenced his four-day-long 'Tantric' teaching session at a monastery in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
Thousands of Tibetans, including monks and foreigners, flocked to the Gyuto Monastery to attend the session.
The first day commenced with preliminary teachings. During the next three days, the Dalai Lama is expected to impart the highest 'Tantric' teachings.
A monk, Thubten Dauniue, described it as a rare spiritual discourse taking place after ten years.
"For us, this is very important because these teachings are very rare. This is the highest form of Tantric teaching not easily given or easily received, especially from the Dalai Lama," said Dauniue.
The 14th Dalai Lama fled to India after a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959.
Beijing, however, considers the Dalai Lama a violent separatist. The Dalai Lama says that he simply wants autonomy for Tibet.
