A deaf amateur football team has appealed for their relegation to be called off as they couldn't hear the referee's whistle during the games.
Birmingham Deaf FC, which was formed in 1921, lost 25 out of 26 matches during their local league, conceding 164 goals in the process, but club official Guy Whieldon said that referees are supposed to wave flags the same time they blow a whistle, the Mirror reported.
The referee would blow for a stoppage and the players would continue to play, he added.
BDFC was given a nine-point deduction earlier this year for not showing up to matches as a protest and has become the first team ever in the division to end on minus points.
The team had been demoted by two divisions as a punishment and the club said they would consider dropping out all together.
