Death toll in Afghan suicide attack rises to 15

The death toll in a suicide attack during funeral prayers of former district chief of Haskamena district in Afghanistan eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday has reached 15.

Tolo News quoted Attaullah Khoghyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, as saying that it was a suicide attack in which 15 people were killed and wounded 14 others.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital in the city.

The incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives among the people who were present during the funeral prayers at the Muqam Khan cemetery in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
