The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed Delhi Government and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to place on record within six weeks the school wise details of children with disabilities and nature of disability studying in government-run schools.
The judgment was given by Justice V.K. Rao.
Advocate Ashok Agarwal, legal counsel for the petitioner contested that such details are necessary for ensuring that each child with disability is being provided with a special educator and to monitor if these children are being provided with essential teaching aids.
The petition was filed by Mamta, a mother of two mentally retarded students.
She had filed a complaint that no special educator was being provided to teach her children in the school.
The next hearing has been scheduled for July 15.
